About BatteryRank: make sense of portable power.
A power station has to run your appliances. A power bank has to charge your phone or laptop. The useful questions are similar: how much energy is available, what can each connection deliver, and what else do you need to carry? The answers depend on the exact product and your devices.
We review power stations, power banks and portable solar panels using sourced specifications and our own analysis. For stations, our published formula combines power, trust, charging and livability. For power banks, each ranking compares one measure, such as single USB-C output or carrying weight. Manufacturer claims remain distinct from independently verified results, and every reading links to its evidence.

BatteryRank is built by engineers whose backgrounds span Apple, Amazon, and Tesla — including hands-on work on battery-management systems, the same class of technology that governs the cells inside every power station we rank.
That background is why this site refuses to treat a power station as a marketing spec sheet. Battery-side usable capacity, cycle life, real continuous-vs-surge power, and cost per usable kWh-cycle aren’t footnotes here — they’re the score. We read the engineering the way it actually behaves, then translate it into a decision anyone can make in a few minutes.
Battery specs are evaluated the way a battery engineer would read them — not paraphrased from a product page. When a claim can’t be verified against an authoritative source, we mark it claimed and say so, rather than guess.

What this site does, and where it stops
BatteryRank is one dataset presented several ways, and it is worth knowing which way answers which question before you start — along with how the site is paid for, and the subjects on which we are emphatically not the right source.
Which surface answers which question
The rankings and model pages answer which one. The comparison pages answer how two candidates actually differ. The sizing pages answer how much, starting from your appliances rather than from a specification sheet. The guides and tools answer how any of this works. Most buyers need the third of those before the first, which is the reverse of the order the category is usually sold in.
How this is paid for
Retailer links here are affiliate links: buy through one and we may earn a commission, at no extra cost to you. That revenue is why the site exists and it is also the obvious threat to everything on it, so the arrangement is bounded in code rather than in a promise. Scores come from a published formula that is price-independent — there is no value axis in it — so a commission cannot move a standing, because price cannot. Where two stations tie on every measured criterion the one with a live retail offer is shown, and the page says so at the point it happens.
What we will not publish
No invented review sentiment — every rating is credited to the outlet or marketplace that published it. No editorial listicles. No specification we cannot trace to a manufacturer, a regulator, or an independent measurement, each carried with its source and the date it was read. Where a figure does not exist the page reads unavailable rather than estimated, which makes several pages here less confident than their competitors on purpose.
Where we are not the right source
We are engineers reading electrical documentation, and that is the entire extent of the expertise claimed anywhere on this site. We hold no medical qualification of any kind: where a page touches a CPAP, an oxygen concentrator, a nebulizer, or a refrigerated medicine it models electricity and nothing else, and the authorities on the rest are the device's own labelling, the clinician or pharmacy that supplied it, and public health guidance. The same boundary applies to licensed trades — wiring a battery to a hardwired appliance is an electrician's job, not a checklist item.
