What Goes Into an Installed Home Battery Quote?

A useful installed home battery proposal names the equipment, electrical scope, site work, approvals and commissioning behind its total; storage capacity alone is not a complete quote.

Compare itemized local proposals for the same backup loads, system configuration, panel work and site conditions. A clear scope makes differences between contractor bids easier to assess.

Request an itemized written proposal

The exact proposal depends on the site. The line items below help you see whether two bids describe the same project.
  • Storage equipment: battery model and quantity, usable-energy configuration, inverter or power-conversion equipment, mounting and required accessories.
  • Backup controls: gateway, controller, meter collar, transfer switch or other manufacturer-specified isolation equipment.
  • Electrical work: backed-up panel or circuits, wiring route, main-panel changes, service-capacity changes and any load management equipment.
  • Site work: location preparation, clearances, conduit, wall or slab work, weather protection and access conditions.
  • Approvals: local permits, inspection, utility interconnection or other approvals that apply to the project.
  • Completion: installation labor, commissioning, monitoring setup, homeowner training and post-install service contacts.
  • Commercial terms: taxes, incentives, payment schedule, warranty coverage, exclusions and who is responsible for each item.

Check the site and system before comparing totals

Ask each installer to identify the assumptions that would change the scope, and to attach the exact manufacturer configuration being proposed.

Tesla’s pre-installation guidance describes a site assessment and electrical review, while its installer resources provide current installation documents. Tesla pre-installation and Tesla installation documents.

Compare the control equipment and compatibility requirements on the chosen system, not on the battery name alone. Enphase’s Gen4 materials describe required system components and compatibility boundaries; FranklinWH’s installation guide documents supported aGate and battery configurations. This checklist contains no installed-price estimate. Ask local installers for current quotes and confirm which local permits, inspection steps and utility processes apply to your address.
