Cycle life is how many full charge-and-discharge rounds the cells are specified to survive before capacity drops to a stated floor — usually 80% of new. These 2026 stations publish the highest counts, and each card shows the retention threshold its count is quoted to.

What the Cycle life ranking leaves out

Why this cohort, not the overall top ten

Cycle life separates a product built to be used from one built to be sold. The counts here span an order of magnitude across chemistries, and that gap decides whether a station is a decade of daily off-grid service or a few hundred deep discharges. It is also the input that dominates lifetime cost, which is why the two pages sit next to each other.

Where buyers get this ranking wrong

Comparing two counts quoted to different retention floors. A pack rated for 4,000 cycles to 70 percent of original capacity and one rated for 3,000 to 80 percent are not ranked the way the raw numbers suggest, because the first is allowed to lose half again as much capacity before it has technically failed. The threshold travels with the count on every card here for exactly that reason.

What this ranking cannot see

Every figure on this page is a laboratory projection under controlled charge rates and temperature. No portable power station has been in consumer hands long enough for anyone to observe a modern pack reaching its rated count, ours included, and heat in a real garage will get there sooner than the datasheet implies.

Formula: rated cycles to retention

  • A count is only comparable against the retention floor it was measured to, so both travel together here. A figure quoted to 70% is a softer claim than the same figure quoted to 80%.
  • These are laboratory ratings under controlled temperature and charge rate, not observations of units in service. Nobody has run these products for a decade yet.
  • A cycle is a full pack, not a plug-in: topping up from 60% to 100% four times is roughly one cycle, which is why most owners never approach the rated number.

Frequently asked

Will my station really last thousands of cycles?
Under datasheet conditions, that is the projection. In a hot garage on partial charges it will be less, and nobody has owned one of these products long enough to publish the real-world figure yet.
Why does the retention percentage matter so much?
It defines the finish line. A count quoted to 70 percent lets the pack degrade much further before the rating is considered met, so it is a softer claim than the same count quoted to 80 percent.
