Anker 313 Power Bank (PowerCore 10K) review

Exact model: A1229

Product identity · checked 2026-10-12

Our take

Choose the A1229 for a slim phone backup you can refill overnight. Its USB-C output tops out at 15W and input at 10W, so it is a poor choice when you need a quick refill or laptop charging.

The buying decision

Should you buy it?

For a slim backup battery

Anker positions this as a slim 10,000mAh reserve with PowerIQ optimized charging up to 2.4A and no Quick Charge support. That suits topping up a phone over lunch better than rescuing a dead laptop before a flight.

Know this before you buy

The bank accepts only 10W over USB-C. If you have short breaks near an outlet, that input limit matters as much as its 15W output. Compare a bank with a faster USB-C input before choosing this for daily travel.

What this score tells you

Each reading gets a percentile within its group. Higher output, capacity and input score better. Lower weight scores better. Ties share a midpoint. We combine those percentiles using the weights above and round the final result.

A score of 100 means the strongest combination in this peer set, not a perfect power bank. Scores can change when we update a rating or publish another model. Compare scores within the same group.

The score does not include wireless charging, weather protection, price or safety. Capacity is the manufacturer’s mAh rating, not usable USB energy or a phone recharge count. Check the verdict and charging limits before you buy.

What changes the choice

Other drawbacks to consider

The manual predates the listing by years

Anker’s current spec rows and gallery list USB-C output, but older copy on the same page and the downloadable manual say input only. We use the current 15W spec row. Confirm that the listing you select shows USB-C output. USB-A is present, but its wattage is not specified in our current source.

Before connecting devices

Ports and charging behavior

A port’s published maximum and the combined multi-port limit are separate ratings. A device can draw less than the bank’s maximum based on its own requirements and the negotiated charging profile.

One slow cable in either direction

USB-C handles 15W output and 10W input, while Micro-USB offers a legacy 10W input path. The two inputs cannot be used at the same time.

Trickle mode covers small accessories

A trickle-charging mode provides optimized charging for earbuds, speakers and similar low-draw devices. Activate it with two presses or a long hold until the indicator turns green.

Exact-model questions

Frequently asked questions

Will the A1229 fast-charge my phone?

Expect a slower top-up than from a higher-power USB-C bank. Anker rates USB-C at 15W and says this model does not support Qualcomm Quick Charge. Your phone determines the rate it can actually draw.

Source documents for this note

Does the USB-C port output power or only accept it?

It does both on current hardware. The live spec rows list USB-C Output at 15W Max beside USB-C Input, and the gallery shows input and output. An older manual line claims otherwise, which we disclose rather than follow.
