Power bank profiles for MacBook Pro

MacBook Pro size and generation change battery energy, adapter output and published system ratings. We keep the 14-inch M5 and 16-inch M4 references separate; adapter wattage is not treated as the minimum a bank must supply.

We separate a device’s published system rating, its adapter’s output rating, and its actual sustained consumption. Actual device load is unknown in this comparison.

Manufacturer-published system ratings for this version:

  • 20.5 V × 4.7 A (96.4 W)

These are published system ratings, not measured sustained consumption or a guaranteed minimum input.

70 W listed

Optional fast-charge adapter target: 96 W (OEM tech specs).

Adapter-rating OEM source · checked 2026-10-17

The adapter rating is not automatically a minimum input for the device. A lower-output bank may simply deliver less power or charge more slowly; exact behavior remains model- and load-dependent.

Selected power-bank output examples

No exact voltage/current point match is listed in the current reviewed bank set. These four models are selected examples across different port ratings, not a wattage ranking; an absent point does not establish that charging cannot work.

Estimate energy equivalents for 14-inch MacBook Pro (M5, 2025)

Enter the bank’s explicitly published Wh rating and your own conversion-efficiency assumption. The formula applies that assumed loss once; it does not turn mAh into Wh or predict device behavior.

Device energy: 72.4 Wh from the OEM source. Source checked 2026-10-17.

Enter both values to calculate a fractional energy equivalent.

Formula: bank rated Wh × your efficiency assumption ÷ device battery Wh. The result is an arithmetic estimate from your inputs and the dated OEM battery figure above. A device may consume energy while running, and its charging system may stop at different levels.

Device charging evidence

The reviewed OEM source does not publish the device’s complete USB-C sink voltage/current profile.

A bank’s wattage cannot establish which voltage/current profile this device negotiates.

These examples span different single-port ratings and are not a suitability ranking. Because the complete device sink profile is not published in the reviewed source, output wattage and adapter wattage cannot confirm a match.

How we read these profiles

  • We match only explicit fixed voltage/current points from the reviewed sources. PPS ranges are not treated as fixed points.
  • Even an exact rating point is conditional: USB PD revision, negotiated behavior, port sharing and cable capability still matter.
  • A higher bank maximum does not prove the device will draw it. A lower bank rating than a bundled adapter does not prove the device cannot charge.
  • Where the OEM does not publish the complete device sink profile, we show output examples without ranking them by wattage.
