Weight is the specification that decides whether a station gets used or stays in a cupboard, and unlike most of what we track it is unambiguous and directly comparable. The fifteen kilogram ceiling is the practical limit for a one-handed carry by the handle, which is the difference between gear you take and gear you plan to take.
Optimising for mass and forgetting what you are carrying it for. Below a certain capacity the lightest option cannot do the job, and a second trip for a second battery is heavier than the right unit would have been. Energy density is the more useful lens for anyone choosing between genuinely comparable candidates.
Published weights are inconsistent about what they include — some brands quote the bare unit and others the retail package — and none of them describe how a unit balances in the hand. Handle design and centre of gravity make a real difference to what feels carryable, and neither appears in any specification we can source.
